Is There a Free Tool to Post in Multiple Facebook Groups? Every Free Option, Compared

By Shirman, founder of AutoGP · 16 October 2026 · 10 min read

The short answer: yes, but every free option has a ceiling. Posting by hand and sharing from Facebook cost nothing and take a long evening; the browser extensions that post automatically each give a small free allowance. AutoGP (we make it) gives 25 free posts with every feature switched on, so you can write one post, tick dozens of groups you've joined, and have it posted to each one automatically, in one click, safely: a daily limit set from your account's age, a pause between groups that varies, and the whole run stopped the first time Facebook warns the account. For one sale, such as a car, a sofa or a house, 25 posts is often all you need. If you post every day, Group Posting's free plan of 5 group posts a day, free for good, lasts longer. Every tool's free plan and price is in the best Facebook group posting tools.

People ask an assistant this question for two reasons. Some have one thing to sell and don't want to pay for a month of software to sell it. Others post for a business and want to see a tool work before they pay for it. Both are fair, and the answer differs for each, so this guide covers every free route, what each one's limit actually is, and which one fits which job.

The free options, one by one

1. Posting by hand

You open each group, paste the post, attach the photos and press Post. It costs nothing and it works in every group you belong to.

Its limit is your evening. Fifteen groups is a chore; fifty is most of a night, and by the twentieth group most people are pasting the same text with no pause, which is the pattern Facebook's spam filters look for. If you have a handful of groups, this is still the right answer, and the manual method, step by step shows how to do it carefully.

2. Facebook's Share button

Share puts an existing post into a group you belong to. It is free and built in, but it sends one group per share, and every group gets the identical post. Facebook also tends to show a share less than a fresh post. It suits passing a news item into two or three groups, not reaching fifty. There is a fuller answer in how to share a Facebook post to multiple groups.

3. Marketplace's "List in more places"

If you're selling an item, Marketplace offers to list it in some buy and sell groups when you create the listing. It is free and quick, but Facebook decides which groups it offers, often only some of the ones you're in, and it covers items for sale only, not a service, a rental or an event. Our guide to buy and sell groups explains where it stops.

4. Facebook's own scheduler

In a group where you're an admin or moderator, Facebook lets you schedule posts for free. In a group where you're simply a member, it doesn't. So it's free group posting for group owners and nothing for anyone selling or promoting in other people's groups. More in can you schedule posts in Facebook groups.

5. Social media schedulers' free plans

Buffer, Hootsuite, Later and the rest have free plans, but none of them can post into a Facebook group any more. Meta removed group publishing from its API in April 2024, and every scheduler that publishes through that API lost it. Their free plans still post to Pages. Why, in plain words: why Buffer, Hootsuite and Zapier can't post to Facebook groups.

6. The free plans of group posting extensions

This is where automatic posting to many groups is free, up to a point. Each extension below works from your own logged-in Chrome and gives something for free. Each one's allowance comes from its own pricing page or Chrome Web Store listing, read between 5 and 9 October 2026:

Tool Free to try Kind of limit
AutoGP 25 posts in total, every feature included A total, then a paid plan
Group Posting 5 group posts a day, free for good A daily cap that renews
FB Group Bulk Poster 3 posts a day A daily cap that renews
Groups Auto Poster & Automation Assistant 5 posts a day in up to 2 groups A daily cap, few groups
Grovo 3 posting sessions of up to 6 groups A small total
MultiGroupPoster 6 posts in total A small total
Postly The first 20 posts A total
PilotPoster A 1-day trial Time
SimplePoster A 7-day trial, card up front Time

Free plans change, so check the tool's own page before you plan around one. Every tool, its paid price and what it suits is in the full comparison.

Which free option fits which job

You're selling one thing. A car, a sofa, a pram, a house. You want it in front of as many local buyers as possible this week, and you'll never need the tool again. A total allowance suits you better than a daily one: with 25 free posts you can put the ad into 25 local buy and sell groups in one run, the same day. A daily cap of 3 or 5 would take a week or more to reach the same groups. Guides for this: why isn't my car selling on Facebook, how to sell things fast on Facebook and selling your house by owner on Facebook.

You post a few groups every day, for good. A small business that drops one post into the same five groups each morning. A daily cap that renews forever suits you, and Group Posting's free plan is the one built for it. We say so in AutoGP vs Group Posting too.

You want to know whether a tool works before you pay. Then the free plan should be the whole product, not a trimmed one. AutoGP's 25 free posts include scheduling, spintax, bundles, photos and every safety setting; nothing is held back for a paid plan. Run a real campaign to dozens of groups and judge it on the results.

You manage the groups yourself. Use Facebook's own scheduler. It's free and it's Facebook's.

What "free" costs in other ways

Free tools still cost something, and it's worth knowing what before you choose.

Your time. Posting by hand is free in money and expensive in hours. If you value your evening at all, an automatic run to 25 groups is the cheaper option even before you pay anything.

Your account. The real risk in posting to many groups is not the tool's price; it's Facebook restricting the account. That risk comes from the same text posted quickly into many groups, more posts than a young account usually makes, and carrying on after Facebook objects. A free tool that blasts identical posts with no pause can cost you more than a paid one. Whatever you use, look for varied wording, a pause between groups and a stop when Facebook warns you. Is auto-posting to Facebook groups safe? goes through it.

Your password. No free tool, and no paid one, should ask for your Facebook password. The extensions in the table above work from the Facebook session already logged in to your Chrome. A service that wants your login to post from its own servers is a different and riskier thing.

A card. Some free trials ask for a card up front. AutoGP asks for one at sign-up in some countries, where the free posts lead into Pro unless you switch that off on your dashboard; in many other countries it asks for no card at all. Nothing is charged during the free posts either way.

How the free posts work in AutoGP

  1. Sign up at autogp.ai and add AutoGP to Google Chrome on your computer.
  2. Open the side panel and press Sync Groups. AutoGP lists every group you've joined.
  3. Write the post once. Add photos, and a few wording variations with spintax so each group gets a slightly different version.
  4. Tick the groups, or a saved bundle of them, and start. AutoGP posts to each group in turn, automatically, in one click, with a pause between groups that varies.
  5. Watch Results: every group gets a row saying the post went out, or why it didn't, with a help page for each reason.

A post that fails or a group that's skipped doesn't use up a free post; it's given back. A new Facebook account starts at about 25 posts a day, and AutoGP raises that as the account gets older, so a seller's whole free allowance usually fits in one day's run. The full walkthrough is getting started.

When the free posts run out, plans start at $19 a month in the US and cost less in many other countries. Or stop there; nothing is charged for the free posts.

What AutoGP does that the free routes don't

Free routes get a post into groups. AutoGP is built to get it into dozens or 100 groups safely, which is the part that matters when it's your own account:

  • A daily limit from your account's age. It starts a new account low and raises the limit slowly.
  • A stop on the first warning. If Facebook blocks posting, asks you to confirm it's you, restricts the account or logs you out, the whole run stops instead of trying again in every group left.
  • A reason for every group. Pending approval, not a member, the group doesn't allow this kind of post: each has its own help page.
  • Failed posts given back, so the allowance pays only for posts that went out.

What no tool can honestly promise is that Facebook will never restrict an account. Facebook decides that. Posting only where a group's rules allow it matters as much as any setting.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free way to post in multiple Facebook groups at once?

Yes. By hand and with Facebook's Share button it's free but slow, one group at a time. For posting automatically, several Chrome extensions have free plans: AutoGP gives 25 free posts with every feature, Group Posting gives 5 group posts a day for good, and FB Group Bulk Poster gives 3 posts a day.

What is the best free Facebook group poster?

It depends on the job. To sell one thing quickly, a total allowance such as AutoGP's 25 free posts reaches the most groups in one day. To post in a few groups every day, Group Posting's free plan of 5 group posts a day, free for good, lasts longest.

Can Buffer or Hootsuite post to Facebook groups for free?

No, not on any plan. Meta removed group publishing from its API in April 2024, so schedulers that publish through it can post to Pages but not into groups.

Do free Facebook group posting tools get accounts banned?

The price doesn't decide that; the posting pattern does. The same text posted quickly into many groups, more posts than the account usually makes, and carrying on after Facebook objects are what get accounts restricted. Choose a tool that varies the wording, paces the posts and stops when Facebook warns you.

Do I need a credit card for AutoGP's free posts?

In some countries sign-up saves a card for the free posts, which then lead into Pro unless you switch that off on your dashboard; in many other countries no card is asked for. Nothing is charged during the 25 free posts.

Can I post my car or furniture for sale in many groups for free?

Yes. Join the local buy and sell groups first, then post the ad to them. AutoGP's 25 free posts put one ad into 25 groups in one run, automatically, which is often enough to sell one item.
