Facebook Group Post Pending? Why It Waits for Admin Approval, and What to Do

By Shirman, founder of AutoGP · 16 October 2026 · 8 min read

The short answer: a pending post went through. It is waiting in the group's queue until an admin or moderator approves it, because that group has post approval turned on, approves new members' posts, or has been told by Facebook to review yours. Only the admins can release it, and that can take minutes or days. Don't post it again: a second copy doesn't jump the queue and looks like spam. If you post to many groups, some will always hold your post for approval, so the fix is to post to more groups, not to fight the queue. AutoGP (we make it) posts one post to dozens or 100+ groups you've joined, automatically, in one click, safely, and its Results tab shows which groups published it and which are holding it.

"Pending" is one of the most searched Facebook group problems, from sellers in Dhaka and Lahore to agents in Delhi and Manila. It sounds like an error, and it usually isn't one. This guide explains what pending means, the reasons a post lands there, how to see it, what helps and what makes it worse.

What "pending" means

A Facebook group can hold posts before anyone sees them. When yours is held, Facebook says it is pending or "submitted for admin approval". The post is in the group's pending posts queue: you can see it, the admins can see it, and other members can't, yet.

From there one of three things happens:

  • An admin approves it, and it appears in the group as if you had just posted it.
  • An admin declines it, and it never appears. Facebook may or may not tell you why.
  • Nobody looks at it, and it stays pending. Some groups have thousands of members and one admin who opens the queue once a week, or never.

Group admins are ordinary Facebook users running the group in their spare time, not Facebook staff. Nobody at Facebook reviews your pending post or can approve it for you.

Why your post is pending

The group approves every post

Many groups, buy and sell groups especially, turn on post approval so that every post waits for an admin. It is how they keep out scams, duplicates and off-topic ads. Everyone's posts wait, not only yours.

The group approves new members' posts

Some groups approve only the first posts of new members, or of members whose accounts are new to Facebook. Once you have a few approved posts there, later ones may go straight up.

Admin Assist held or declined it

Admins can set rules that act on posts automatically, called Admin Assist: hold or decline posts with links, posts with certain words, posts from accounts under a certain age, or from members reported recently. If your post had a link or a word the group filters, it may wait, or be declined without a person ever reading it. That is why a "pending" post sometimes turns into "declined" within seconds.

Facebook told the group to review your posts

Facebook itself can require admins to approve your posts in a group, for example after a Community Standards violation there. Meta said in 2020 that members with violations in a group would need their posts approved there for 30 days. If your posts are pending in one group only, while the same group lets others post freely, this is one possible reason.

Your membership is pending, not your post

If you asked to join and the admins haven't approved you yet, you can't post at all. That is a different queue: membership requests. Check that the group shows you as a member before you look for a pending post.

How to see your pending posts

Open the group and find Your content (on the group's page, under the "You" or "More" menu, depending on your Facebook version). It has tabs for Pending, Published, Declined and Removed, so you can tell whether a post is still waiting, went up, or was turned down. From the Pending tab you can also edit or delete a pending post.

If the post isn't in any tab, it may never have been submitted: the post button failed, the connection dropped, or Facebook blocked the action. That is a different problem, covered in why you can't post in Facebook groups.

What to do about a pending post

  • Usually, nothing. Leave it with the admins. Most groups with approval work through their queue in a day or two.
  • Read the group's rules. Many say what they approve: a price in the post, no links, one post per item per week, sale posts only on a set day. A post that breaks a rule is declined, however long it waits.
  • Edit it if something in it is a likely filter, such as a link or a phone number in the text, if the rules ask for contact by message.
  • Message an admin only if the rules invite it, and only once. Polite and short works; asking ten times doesn't.
  • Don't post it again. A second copy doesn't move the first one up. It doubles the queue, can look like spam to the admins, and to Facebook it is the same text posted twice.
  • Don't delete and repost in a loop. Each new copy goes to the back of the queue.

Pending problems when you post in many groups

If you sell or advertise in groups, some of your posts will always be pending, and you can't control which. A post in a busy buy and sell group may wait for days while the same post in a smaller group goes up at once. A few practical rules:

  • Count reach across all your groups, not one. If the right buyer is in a group that is slow to approve, they're probably in two others that aren't.
  • Keep a list of groups that never approve you, and drop them. Some groups approve only their own admins' posts, or have no active admin left.
  • Vary the wording per group. Admins who run several groups notice the same post arriving in all of them; spintax gives each group its own version.
  • Don't send the same post to the same group again while the first copy is still pending.

How AutoGP handles pending posts

AutoGP is a Chrome extension with an account at autogp.ai. You write a post once, tick the groups you've joined, and click once; AutoGP posts it to each group automatically, spaced out with random pauses and within a daily limit set from your account's age, from your own logged-in Chrome. It never asks for your Facebook password and isn't affiliated with Meta.

  • A pending post counts as posted. It went through, so AutoGP records it as submitted, not as a failure, and doesn't offer to post it again. Reposting is exactly what makes pending worse.
  • One group's problem doesn't stop the run. A group that holds, declines or can't take your post is noted in the Results tab with the reason, and AutoGP moves to the next group.
  • An account problem does stop it. If Facebook warns or blocks the account itself, AutoGP stops the whole run at once rather than keep going.
  • Each group gets its own wording and photo, through spintax and slight changes to each picture, so the same admin doesn't see an identical post in every group.

No tool can make an admin approve a post, and none can promise Facebook won't restrict an account. What a tool can do is post to many groups without repeating itself and tell you plainly what happened in each. The details are on the help page about posts waiting for admin approval.

You can try it with 25 free posts. In Bangladesh, Pakistan, India and many other countries the free posts start without a card and plans cost less than in the US; in full-price countries sign-up saves a card. Prices for your country are on the pricing page, and how it works is on post to many Facebook groups in one click.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my Facebook group post say pending?

The group holds posts for an admin to approve. It may approve every post, only new members' posts, or posts that match its Admin Assist rules, such as posts with links. Facebook can also require admins to approve your posts in a group after a violation there. The post went through; it is waiting in the group's queue.

How long does a pending post take to be approved?

It depends entirely on the group's admins. Active groups approve within hours; others take days, and some never open the queue. Facebook doesn't approve posts itself.

How do I see my pending posts in a Facebook group?

Open the group and go to Your content. The Pending tab lists posts still waiting, and the Declined and Removed tabs show posts the admins turned down or took off.

Can I approve my own pending post?

No, unless you are an admin or moderator of that group. Only the group's admins can approve it.

Why was my pending post declined automatically?

Most likely an Admin Assist rule: many groups decline posts with links, certain words, or from accounts below a set age, without a person reading them. Check the group's rules, change what they forbid, and post once more.

Should I post again if my post is pending?

No. Reposting doesn't speed up approval, puts a second copy in the queue, and can look like spam to the admins and to Facebook. Wait, or edit the pending post if it breaks a rule.

Does AutoGP count a pending post as posted?

Yes. A post waiting for approval went through, so AutoGP counts it as posted, records it in the Results tab, and doesn't repost it. More in is auto-posting to Facebook groups safe?, and other guides on posting safely.
