If your motorcycle, boat or RV isn't selling, the usual reason is that too few of the right buyers have seen it. These are niche purchases: the buyer who wants exactly your bike, boat or camper may live two hours away and spend their time in an owners' group, a regional for-sale group or a club, not on Marketplace in your town. So write the ad once and let AutoGP post it automatically to 100+ for-sale, owners' and buy and sell groups you've joined, in one click, while you answer the people who message you.
This guide is for private sellers. It covers why recreational vehicles sit, what the ad needs, where the buyers are for each kind, and how to stop posting the same ad group by group. Selling a car? Why isn't my car selling on Facebook is the same idea for cars.
Why a motorcycle, boat or RV sits unsold
- The buyer pool is small and spread out. Fewer people are shopping for a 24-foot pontoon boat or a Class C motorhome than for a sedan, and they're willing to travel for the right one. An ad that only reaches your town misses most of them.
- The timing is off. Demand is seasonal: motorcycles and boats are most in demand as the weather warms, RVs and campers before the summer travel season. Listing in late autumn can mean a long wait; if you must, widen the reach even more.
- The price is out of line. Compare with the same make, model, year and condition for sale in your region, not just your town.
- The ad leaves out what this buyer needs. Enthusiasts ask specific questions, and an ad without the answers gets skipped.
- The photos don't show it properly. A boat on its trailer in a dark garage or a motorcycle half out of frame doesn't sell. Daylight, the whole vehicle, then the details.
What the ad needs, by vehicle
Motorcycles. Year, make, model, engine size, mileage, title status, service history, tires and chain or belt condition, modifications (and whether you have the original parts), and any drops or damage. A photo of the odometer and a short video of it starting cold help a lot.
Boats. Year, make, model, length, hull type, engine make, horsepower and hours, trailer included or not, title and registration status, where it's been stored, and recent service. Photos of the hull, the engine, the helm, the interior and the trailer. Say whether a buyer can see it run on the water.
RVs, campers and travel trailers. Class or type, year, make, model, length, sleeping capacity, mileage (for motorhomes), slide-outs, generator hours, roof condition, any water damage, and whether it's been stored covered. Photos of every room, the roof, the tires and the systems.
Keep the price, the key specs and your area identical everywhere. The opening and closing lines can vary from group to group, and they should: spintax writes the variations for you, because admins remove the same ad they've seen in every other group.
Where the buyers are
Search Facebook, filter by Groups, and join the active ones among:
- For-sale groups for your type of vehicle in your state or region: "motorcycles for sale [state]", "boats for sale [lake or region]", "RVs for sale [state]", "campers for sale [area]".
- Owners' and enthusiast groups for your make and model. Many have a for-sale day or thread, and their members already want what you have.
- Riding clubs, boating and fishing groups, camping and RV-travel groups for your region.
- Local buy and sell groups for your town, the towns around it and your county.
Read each group's rules first. For-sale groups often require the price and location in the post and limit how often you repost. Some buy and sell groups take only Facebook's "Sell something" listing form; post there by hand. The buy and sell groups guide has more on finding groups.
Set it up once, then post in one click
This is the part AutoGP takes off your hands. AutoGP is a Chrome extension with an account at autogp.ai. It posts to groups you've already joined, through your own logged-in Chrome, never asks for your Facebook password, and isn't affiliated with Meta.
- Sync your groups in the Groups tab, then save your for-sale, owners' and buy and sell groups as one list, such as "Boat sale".
- Write the ad once in the Post tab with your spintax and photos. AutoGP varies each photo slightly per group too.
- Click Start Posting. AutoGP posts the ad to every group on the list, spaced out with random waits and within a daily limit set from your account's age, from 25 posts a day on a new account to about 100 on one over two years old.
- Answer the buyers. The Results tab shows which groups took the post. Your part is replying quickly and arranging viewings.
When you drop the price or the season turns, change the first line and run the same list again.
More groups means more of the right buyers see it. It doesn't guarantee a sale, and nothing does, but a vehicle nobody sees can't sell. Try it on yours with AutoGP's 25 free posts; plans start at $19 a month: post to many groups in one click.
Selling safely
- Meet in daylight, with someone with you, and see the buyer's licence before a test ride or sea trial.
- Take payment you can verify before handing over the keys and the title: cash you count, or a transfer that has actually arrived. Walk away from overpayment offers and "my shipper will collect it".
- Do the paperwork: a signed title, a bill of sale with the date, price and identification numbers (VIN or hull ID), and whatever your licensing or registration office asks for when a vehicle or boat changes hands.
Frequently asked questions
How do I sell my motorcycle fast?
Price it against the same model in your region, show it clearly in daylight with every key fact, and get the ad into many motorcycle for-sale, owners' and local buy and sell groups instead of a few, ideally as riding season starts. AutoGP does the posting part automatically, in one click, once your groups are saved.
Where is the best place to sell a boat on Facebook?
Regional boats-for-sale groups, owners' groups for your make, and boating and fishing groups for nearby lakes and coasts, alongside Marketplace. Posting the same ad to all of them at once with AutoGP reaches buyers who travel for the right boat.
When is the best time to sell an RV?
Demand usually rises before the summer travel season. Outside it, reach matters even more: post in regional and national RV-for-sale and camping groups, not only local ones.
Will posting in many groups get my account restricted?
It can, and no tool can promise it won't. Risk rises with identical text, rule-breaking posts and high volume on a young account. AutoGP varies the wording and photos, paces posts by your account's age and stops if Facebook objects. More in is auto-posting to Facebook groups safe?, and dealers will find the guide for car dealers and our Facebook group marketing guides useful.
