The short answer: from a phone alone, you can post to many Facebook groups only by hand: the Facebook app posts or shares to one group at a time, and Marketplace's "List in more places" adds an item for sale to only some buy and sell groups. No phone app can post automatically into groups you've joined, because Meta closed group posting to outside apps in 2024 and phone browsers don't run Chrome extensions. The automatic way needs a computer for the posting itself. AutoGP (we make it) runs in Chrome on a Windows or Mac computer: you write the post once, tick dozens or 100 groups, and it posts to each one automatically, in one click, safely, with a daily limit from your account's age and a stop the first time Facebook warns the account. You can sign up on your phone, set it up on any computer once, and answer every buyer from your phone. All the tools are compared in the best Facebook group posting tools.
Most people who sell on Facebook do it from their phone: the photos are on it, the buyers message it, and Facebook's app is always open. So when the ad needs to go into twenty, fifty or a hundred groups, the phone is where people look first. This guide says honestly what a phone can and can't do, the quickest way to do it by hand on a phone, and how to let a computer do the posting while you keep the phone for the buyers.
What you can do on a phone
Post in each group by hand
Open a group in the Facebook app, tap Write something, paste the text, add the photos and post. Then the next group. It works everywhere you're a member and costs nothing.
It's also the slowest way. On a phone it's slower still: switching groups, re-adding photos from the gallery, and checking each group's rules on a small screen. And by the fifteenth group most people paste identical text with no pause, the pattern Facebook's spam filters watch for.
Share to a group
Under your post, tap Share, then Share to a group, and pick a group. Each share goes to one group and every group gets the identical post. It's fine for two or three groups, and it's how to spread a fundraiser or a lost-pet post where you want every reaction on the original. For an item for sale, a new post in each group usually works better. More in how to share a Facebook post to multiple groups.
List in more places (items for sale only)
When you create a Marketplace listing in the app, Facebook may offer to list it in some buy and sell groups too. It's quick and it's free, but Facebook picks which groups it offers, often only some of the ones you're in, and it covers items for sale, not a service, a rental or an event. Our guide to buy and sell groups explains where it stops.
Schedule in groups you run
If you're an admin or moderator of a group, the app lets you schedule posts there. It doesn't in groups where you're a member, which is most groups for most sellers. See can you schedule posts in Facebook groups.
Why there's no phone app that does it automatically
You might expect an app that posts one post to all your groups. There isn't a trustworthy one, for two reasons.
Meta closed the door in 2024. Until April 2024, scheduling apps could publish into some Facebook groups through Meta's API. Meta removed group publishing from that API, and every app that posts through it lost group posting. Buffer, Hootsuite and the rest still post to Pages, not into groups. The details: why Buffer, Hootsuite and Zapier can't post to Facebook groups.
What still works runs in your own browser. The tools that post to groups you've joined today are Chrome extensions that work from the Facebook session already logged in to your browser, the way you would post yourself. Chrome on a phone doesn't run extensions, so these tools need a computer.
Be careful with any app or website that offers to post to your groups from its own servers if you give it your Facebook email and password. Handing your login to a stranger's server is a much bigger risk to your account than any posting tool, and no AutoGP feature ever asks for it.
The one-click way: a computer posts, your phone answers
Here's the setup that suits people who live on their phones. You need a computer once to set it up, and the computer does the posting from then on; it can be a laptop on the kitchen table or a family computer.
- Sign up, on your phone if you like. Create your AutoGP account at autogp.ai from any device. The free posts are on the account, not the device.
- On the computer, open Chrome logged in to Facebook as the profile you sell from, and add AutoGP from your dashboard or the Chrome Web Store.
- Sync your groups. In AutoGP's side panel, press Sync Groups. Every group you've joined appears, including the ones you joined on your phone. Save your local buy and sell groups as a bundle.
- Write the ad once. Text, up to ten photos, and a second or third way of saying it, so each group gets a slightly different version. Getting the photos from your phone to the computer is the only fiddly step; emailing them to yourself or a cloud photo folder both work.
- Tick the groups, or the bundle, and start. AutoGP posts to each group in turn, automatically, in one click, with a pause between groups that varies.
- Walk away with your phone. Chrome has to stay open while a run is posting, but the screen can be locked. Buyers' messages arrive in Messenger on your phone as usual.
Every group gets a row in the Results tab: posted, waiting for admin approval, or why it didn't go through, each with a help page. You can also schedule a run for later, or to repeat on chosen days; the computer needs to be on, awake and running Chrome at that time, as keeping scheduled posts running explains. The full walkthrough is getting started.
Why the computer is the safer place to post from
Posting to many groups is safe or risky because of the pattern, not the device. Facebook's spam policy covers posting very often and posting the same content again and again. A tired evening of pasting on a phone produces exactly that pattern. AutoGP is built around the opposite:
- A daily limit from your account's age. A new Facebook account starts at about 25 posts a day, and AutoGP raises it as the account ages.
- Different words in each group, from the versions you write.
- A pause between groups that varies, and grows as the day goes on.
- A stop on the first warning. If Facebook blocks posting, asks you to confirm it's you, restricts the account or logs you out, the whole run stops instead of carrying on in every group left.
No tool can honestly promise that Facebook will never restrict an account; Facebook decides that. Posting only in groups whose rules allow your post matters as much as any setting. More in is auto-posting to Facebook groups safe?
Who this is for
Someone selling their own things. A car, a sofa, a cot, a whole flat's worth before a move. Set it up on a computer once, post the ad to every local group, and handle the buyers from your phone. Guides: why isn't my car selling on Facebook and how to sell things fast on Facebook.
Someone selling a house or renting a flat. The listing goes to every local community, relocation and rental group; the viewings are booked by phone. See selling your house by owner on Facebook and landlords and rentals.
A small business owner who works from a phone. Post the week's offer from the shop computer on Monday morning, or schedule it to repeat, and answer customers from your phone the rest of the week.
Frequently asked questions
Can I post to multiple Facebook groups at once from my phone?
Not automatically. On a phone, the Facebook app posts or shares to one group at a time, and List in more places adds an item for sale to only some buy and sell groups. To post one post to dozens of groups at once, use a computer with a Chrome extension such as AutoGP, then handle replies on your phone.
Is there an app to post in multiple Facebook groups?
No phone app can post into groups you've joined through Meta's official API, because Meta removed group publishing in April 2024. The tools that work are Chrome extensions on a computer that post from your own logged-in browser. Avoid any app that asks for your Facebook password.
Does AutoGP work on a phone?
No. AutoGP is a Chrome extension, and Chrome on a phone doesn't run extensions. You can sign up on a phone and set it up on a Windows or Mac computer, which does the posting.
Do I have to stay at the computer while it posts?
No. Chrome has to stay open while a run is posting, but you can lock the screen and leave. Scheduled runs need the computer on, awake and running Chrome at their time.
Can I share a post to several groups from the Facebook app?
Yes, one group at a time: tap Share, then Share to a group, and repeat for each group. Every group gets the identical post, so for more than a few groups a new post in each group, varied and paced, works better.
How many groups can I post in per day?
It depends on the account. A new Facebook account is safer with fewer, and an older, active one can do more. AutoGP starts a new account at about 25 posts a day and raises the limit as the account ages. More in Facebook group posting limits.
