The short answer: handmade and resale goods sell in Facebook groups where local buyers and fans of that kind of item already browse: town buy and sell groups, shop-small groups and interest groups. A weekly post of what's new, with real photos, prices and how to buy, in 20 or 30 of those groups, finds buyers without ad spend. Pasting it into each group by hand is the slow part. AutoGP posts it for you, at a safe pace, while you make the next batch.

Selling from an online store rather than locally? The e-commerce sellers guide covers store links and promo threads. Selling one-off things you own? See buy and sell groups. Everything else is in all our business guides.

Where handmade and resale buyers are

  • Local buy and sell groups: [town] buy sell trade, [county] yard sale, [town] marketplace. The biggest local audience, built for items.
  • Handmade and shop-small groups: [town] handmade, [state] makers, shop small [town], [city] craft fairs.
  • Interest groups for what you make: knitting, woodworking, farmhouse decor, vintage clothing, crystals. Many allow sales only on a set day.
  • Gift groups before holidays: [town] moms, teacher gift groups, [school] parents.

In every group, read whether sellers are allowed, whether links are, how often you may post, and whether "bumping" your own post with a comment is allowed.

How to sell crafts on Facebook

Crafters post every week or two, when a new batch is finished.

  • Search Facebook for: [craft] for sale, [craft] lovers, handmade [state], craft fairs [region], [town] handmade.
  • What works: one clear photo per piece on a plain background, the price, the size, and whether it's ready now or made to order with a lead time.
  • Weekly rhythm: a "new this week" post on the same day each week; a "last few left" post only when true.
  • Yearly calendar: Mother's Day, back to school (teacher gifts), fall craft fairs (post the fair dates), and the holidays: post gift ideas from late October.
{New this week|Fresh from the workshop|Just finished}: [item], [size], [price]
{Also available|Still in stock}: [item] [price], [item] [price]
{Made to order|Custom orders}: [lead time]. {Local pickup|Pickup} in [neighborhood] or {shipping|I can ship} for [price].
{Message me|Comment below} to {claim one|order}.

How to get more boutique customers and sell more clothes

Boutiques and clothing resellers post new stock as often as it arrives, sometimes several drops a week.

  • Search Facebook for: [town] boutique, [city] fashion, plus size fashion [region], [brand] resale, mom style [town], [town] buy sell trade.
  • What works: each item worn or on a form, with the size, measurements for resale pieces, condition (new with tags, like new, gently used), the price, and how to claim it ("comment SOLD" only where groups allow it).
  • Rhythm: a weekly drop post at the same time; live sales announced a day before where groups allow event posts.
  • Calendar: back to school, fall and holiday party wear, New Year, spring and summer vacation wear.
  • New clothing you sell in the US generally needs fiber content, country of origin and care labels under FTC rules; used clothing is treated differently. Never sell replicas of a brand: Meta's Commerce Policies ban them and brand owners report them.

How to sell more jewelry

  • Search Facebook for: handmade jewelry [state], [town] boutique, permanent jewelry [city], [stone or style] jewelry lovers.
  • What works: close-up photos in natural light, the metal and stone named accurately ("sterling silver", "gold-plated", "glass"), the size or length, and the price. Describe materials exactly; "gold" for gold-plated pieces is the complaint that gets posts removed and buyers angry.
  • Calendar: Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, graduations, the holidays.
  • Children's jewelry in the US has lead limits and testing rules under the Consumer Product Safety Commission; check them before selling pieces for children.

How to sell more candles and soap

  • Search Facebook for: handmade candles, [town] handmade, soap makers, self care [town], farmhouse decor.
  • What works: the scent, size, burn time or bar weight, the ingredients, and a photo in use. For candles, include the fire safety warning on the label; for soap, describe the ingredients rather than making skin or health claims.
  • Rhythm: a new scent or batch every week or two.
  • Calendar: fall scents from August, holiday gift sets from late October, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day.

In the US, a soap sold only as a cleanser is a consumer product, but once it claims to moisturize, deodorize or treat the skin, the FDA may treat it as a cosmetic, with labeling rules. Keep to what the soap is and does.

How to sell custom apparel

Custom T-shirts, embroidery, vinyl and sublimation sellers sell to groups more than to individuals.

  • Search Facebook for: [school] parents, [sport] [town] league, [town] small business, family reunion [region], [company] employees.
  • What works: a finished order with the customer's permission, the minimum order, the price per item at each quantity, and the turnaround time.
  • Calendar: back to school and spirit wear (July and August), sports seasons, family reunions (spring), the holidays.
  • Designs: don't print team logos, characters or brand names you don't have rights to; Meta removes infringing items and the brand owners file the reports.

How to flip furniture on Facebook Marketplace and in groups

Furniture flippers and Marketplace side hustlers sell big, local, one-off pieces.

  • Search Facebook for: [town] buy sell trade, [town] furniture for sale, [region] home decor, new to [town], [college town] housing at the start and end of term.
  • What works: the finished piece in good light, a before photo if you refinished it, the measurements (width, depth, height), the price, and the pickup area with whether you deliver.
  • Rhythm: post each finished piece on a Thursday or Friday for weekend pickups; repost weekly with a new lead photo if unsold, within group repost rules.
  • Calendar: move-in season (August and September), spring moves, New Year.
{Refinished|Restored|Fully redone}: [piece], [wood or material], [color and finish]
[W] x [D] x [H] in. {Price|Asking} [price].
{Pickup in|Collect from} [neighborhood]{. Delivery available for [price]|. I can deliver locally for [price]}.
{Message me|Send me a message} to {see it|arrange pickup}.

The measurements, price and delivery fee stay the same in every version.

The rules for handmade and resale sellers

  • Meta's Commerce Policies prohibit, among other things, animals, weapons, alcohol, tobacco and vapes, adult products, ingestible supplements with health claims, and items that infringe intellectual property. Handmade versions are covered too.
  • Brands and characters. Replicas, "inspired by" logos and licensed characters can be infringement.
  • Children's products (for children 12 and under) in the US have safety testing and tracking-label rules under the CPSIA, with some relief for small-batch makers who register with the CPSC.
  • Accurate descriptions. Materials, condition and measurements must be true.
  • Sales tax may apply to your sales where you live; check your state's rules.

Doing it with AutoGP, step by step

AutoGP is a Chrome extension paired with your autogp.ai account. It posts ordinary posts to groups you've joined, as the Facebook profile logged into Chrome, and never asks for your Facebook password. Chrome stays open while it posts. AutoGP isn't affiliated with Meta.

  1. Sync your groups in the Groups tab and bundle them: "Local buy and sell", "Handmade groups", "Interest groups (Saturday sales day)", "Gift groups (November and December)".

AutoGP groups tab listing synced Facebook groups with their member counts

  2. Write the week's post with a template above and attach up to 10 photos, which AutoGP varies slightly for each group. Put your shop link in First Comment where links are allowed. Save it as a template for next week.

    AutoGP post composer with spintax

  3. Preview the versions and check prices, sizes and materials never change.

  4. Schedule each bundle for its sales day in the Schedule tab, with Repeat every 168 hours for a weekly drop.

  5. Check Results to see where the post went up, and open the groups from there to answer "is this still available?".

Protection is on by default: a warm-up daily limit set by your account's age, random delays, and a guard against near-identical posts. After 19 free posts (no card), see pricing. Any posting tool carries some risk to your Facebook account, which our terms explain.

What not to do

  • Posting sales in groups that don't allow them, or outside their sales day.
  • Bumping your own post more than the group allows.
  • Reusing another seller's photos or product descriptions.
  • Calling plated metal "gold" or a copy "designer".
  • Sending every item to every group. Match each piece to the groups whose members want it.
  • A big launch day on a new account. Spread it across the week; see posting limits.

Common questions

How do I sell handmade items locally on Facebook?+
Post clear photos of finished pieces, with prices and how to buy or collect, in your town's buy and sell groups, local handmade and shop-small groups, and the interest groups for what you make. A weekly post of new pieces in the same groups builds followers; a single burst to every group doesn't. Read each group's rules first: many allow sellers only on a set day or in a thread.
How do I sell more on Facebook Marketplace?+
A Marketplace listing reaches people browsing Marketplace near you. Posting the same item in local buy and sell groups, and in interest groups that allow sales, reaches people who don't browse. Keep the price, the condition and the photos identical everywhere, and change only the wording, so it doesn't read as spam.
Can I sell candles and soap on Facebook?+
Yes, in groups that allow sales, but know what your product counts as. In the US, a soap that only claims to clean is regulated as a consumer product, while one that claims to moisturize or treat the skin can count as a cosmetic under FDA rules, with labeling duties. Candles should carry fire safety warnings. Don't make health or healing claims for either.
How do furniture flippers find buyers fast?+
Post the finished piece with before-and-after photos, its measurements, the price and the pickup area in local buy and sell groups, home decor groups and new-to-town groups. Measurements answer the first question every buyer asks. Post on weekend mornings, when people plan pickups.
What can't I sell in Facebook groups?+
Meta's Commerce Policies prohibit, among other things, animals, weapons, alcohol, tobacco and vapes, adult products, and ingestible supplements with health claims, and items that infringe someone's brand, such as replicas. Groups add their own bans. Handmade versions of prohibited items are still prohibited.
Will posting to many groups get my Facebook account restricted?+
It can, and no tool can promise it won't, AutoGP included. Risk rises with high volume on a young account, identical text across groups and posts that break group rules. AutoGP paces posts by your account's age, randomizes delays, varies wording with spintax and images per group, warns about near-identical posts, and stops the run if Facebook signals an account-level block.
