AutoGP

AutoGP couldn't find where to write the post

AutoGP opened the group but couldn't find Facebook's post box. The usual causes, from a slow page to Facebook's language setting, and what to try.

What it means

AutoGP writes each post in Facebook's own post box, the one that opens from "Write something" at the top of a group. This time the group's page opened, but AutoGP couldn't find that box, or the box didn't open when clicked, so nothing was posted to this group. The run carries on with the others.

The usual causes:

  • The page was slow, and the box hadn't appeared by the time AutoGP looked.
  • The posting window was minimised or hidden. Facebook builds parts of a page only as they come into view, and Chrome slows down windows you can't see, so the box may never appear.
  • Facebook is set to a language AutoGP doesn't read yet. AutoGP finds Facebook's buttons by their words.
  • The group doesn't offer you a post box, even though Facebook didn't say why.
  • Facebook changed how its pages are built, which affects every group at once.

What to do

  1. Open the group from the Results tab (its name is a link) and check that you can start a post there by hand.
  2. Leave the posting window visible while AutoGP posts. Don't minimise it or cover it with a full-screen app.
  3. Try that group again later. A slow page usually works on the next try.
  4. If it happens in every group, check Facebook's language setting: English works. Then press Run Diagnostics on the extension's Results tab.

When to contact support

Email support@autogp.ai if this happens in most groups with Facebook in English, or every time in a group where you can post by hand. Include the group's link, the language Facebook is set to, and what Run Diagnostics shows. When Facebook changes its pages, AutoGP needs an update to match, and reports like yours are how we find out.
